There are different ways to train your pet dog, the most commonly used method is through dog collar. These gears are commonly used for barking, imprisonment or general way of behaving. Each and every dog training collar is created by keeping mind the different type of behavior which is made by the dog. For instance, in terms of barking, a small box can be constructed in the collar which will give the dog some amount of electric current whenever he barks.

However, the shock which is given to the pet should be of very low intensity as it should not end-up hurting the dog. It is used so that the pet understands that he is doing something which is not acceptable. On the other hand, confinement training along with the help of invisible fencing, you will be able to provide shock to the dog if it passes the border line. It is advisable to keep the dog training collar on the dog and the wire should be hidden under the ground and lower level of electricity should be used for fencing.

Sophisticated way of training: Dog Training collar

Whenever, the fencing is done underground then it is better to keep some indicators so that the dog is able to recognize the border and understands that if it is crossed it will produce electronic shock. Within a few days the dog will be able to understand the location of the border. Once the dog gets aware about it, you may turn off the electric supply. You might be thinking that the invisible fencing is not possible as you are staying in an apartment, but you don’t have to worry as one more dog training collar [http://www.startdogtraining.com/Dog_Potty_Training/] is available which can be controlled through a remote, it relays the signal to the collar which can shock the dog, only if the behavior of the dog is not acceptable.

When you take your pet for a walk without a stick and it happens that the pet is not willing to stay within the limits then you can give a light shock which will make the pet realize that they are doing something which is not accepted. You can also use this dog training collar for dog behavioral training such as jumping on anyone who enters the door, relieving itself indoors, excessive barking, etc. Whenever the pet does something wrong the electric shock will help it to realize the mistake and they can get back to the track. You should not use the remote for fun; you should also not allow the kids to use the remote control. If you unnecessarily use the remote then it may result in the pet getting hurt. The dog training collar should be used with care.

One of the coolest innovations in pet products is the wireless electric dog fence. This electronic system allows a dog owner to let his or her dog roam free outside in the yard without the need of a traditional fence or wall to keep it on the property. But just how does a wireless electric dog fence work? Below is a description of a typical system.

The first thing to know is that no wireless radio fence will work for your dog if you don’t put the time in to train the dog to obey the system. While most dogs learn very quickly, it does take some effort and patience out of the dog’s owner, to get the best results from the system.

There are three main parts or components. There is the wire, the transmitter and the dog collar. The collar is placed and secured around the dog’s neck, the wire is buried underground, and the transmitter should be installed in a safe place.

You have to bury the wire underground, running it along the boundary line that you desire. A radio wave signal is sent out from the transmitter to the wire. The wire receives it, then sends it out to a receiver on the dog collar. The distance that the feed can be read is short so if the collar is able to receive the signal, that means the dog has wandered close to the boundary line.

Once the dog gets close, the collar will beep. If the dog persists on moving forward, a correction is produced. This correction is usually a minor electric shock or a spray of an unpleasant odor. Neither is harmful to the dog in any way.

One of the most important things to remember when training your dog to learn any command is that he is smart enough and old enough to understand the training. In addition, you as the owner or the trainer must be prepared to correctly use an electronic collar and have an abundance of patience. While it may be frustrating at first, before you know it, basic commands like ‘here’ will become quickly familiar. Ensuring you understand the proper training method not only will help you, but will result in no harm coming to your dog.

Most of us feel that the ‘here’ command is pretty basic. However, before you start teaching your dog to ‘come here’ he should be familiar with even more basic commands like sit, stay and heel. As with all other training, the ‘here’ command should begin on a leash and not on the electronic training system until you are both comfortable. To start off this training, it’s best to mix other commands. This helps your dog focus, retain and also lets him know that he needs to gear up for training or working. To begin this training, walk with your dog and issue the heel command a number of times during your walk. Make sure you praise him liberally when he follows your command. Once this has become fairly simple, tell your dog to sit. Once he’s sitting, begin slowly backing away from him (making sure he remains sitting). Once this is accomplished, use the ‘here’ command. Remember, this is probably not going to be the easiest thing that you teach your dog, as he’s liable to be confused by the process since you’ve already taught him the ’stay’ command. Once you’ve convinced your dog that ‘here’ is a new command and that he must obey, you’ll probably find he’ll resist this less and less. Remember, this portion of training is going to require a fair amount of patience on your part, as your dog likely is going to be confused by this whole exercise and he’s likely to put up a bit of a fight. The best way to proceed is that you will do this a number of times – walk, stop, issue the sit command, and then when he least expects it tell him to come here. Your dog should be rewarded for obeying the ‘here’ command until he’s comfortable enough to do it without a lot of extra encouragement or a reward waiting after he’s successfully obeyed you.

It’s important to remember that regardless of whether you are training a hundred pound dog with a normal amount of attitude or a ten pound dog with a hundred pounds of attitude that they must know that you are the one who is in control at all times. Once you have successfully taught the ‘here’ command on a leash, you can transition to an electronic collar after properly preparing your dog. Once you’ve accomplished the training on the electronic collar it might be a good idea to leave the receiver on him until you’re comfortable that he will obey – you do not have to turn the collar on, some dogs will automatically change their behavior just because they are wearing their training collars. Once you are comfortable that your dog will follow all commands without correction, you should be able to remove the electronic collar completely. Depending on your dogs‘ personality, you may find that from time to time it’s helpful to reintroduce the collar just to remind your dog that you and you alone are in charge.

Nowadays, many suburban homes have been using radio dog fence to keep their dogs in their yards even without a real fence. Since these are easy to install, invisible, and reasonably inexpensive than real fences, these radio dog fences have been preferred by many homeowners and neighborhoods in the United States.

These fences come in two varieties. The first one is characterized by a buried radio signal-emitting wire that runs around the perimeter of the house. The second one does the same but emits the radio signal from a central point. These fences are wirelessly connected to a shock collar around your dog’s neck. As the dog nears or steps over the perimeter, the dog is zapped with electrical current. Hence, it teaches the dog to stay in the yard to avoid the shock.

Nonetheless, these fences have loopholes, too. Depending on which type of dog you own, radio dog fences may not effectively work. Some dogs will just take the brief shock and still get past the radio fence you installed. As playful and spontaneous dogs are, these gadgets may not be as effective as it seem. And since these radio dog fences run on electrical power, if this runs out, your dog can easily be on the loose.

In sum, radio fences can be beneficial in training your dogs or playing with your dogs off-leash, but these should be done only when there’s someone to look after them. Otherwise, radio dog fences should not be used in containing a dog when no one is home.

To choose the remote dog training collar is one of the most popular ways to train your favorite pet and man’s best friend. These remote electronic dog training collars help us train our pet, for a family pet, or for your use in a profession. The remote training electronic dog collars will allow your pet to achieve a new level of obedience. The problem is there are many different types of remote dog training collars available and you are not sure what you need. Electric Dog Collar Electronic dog collars have come a long way over the years. A good remote electric dog collar should have good range. To teach the dog using electronic dog training collar, it should be worn for at least a couple of weeks. You should also make sure to take off the electric dog collar 4-5 times a day. This removing the electric dog collar will teach the dog to remember the shock feeling with the electronic collar being off. That way the dog learns that this is a good feeling. You should also teach the dog using electronic dog training collar in a fenced area. The shock amount should be enough to just turn the dogs head. Use it Like a Leash CorrectionUsing electronic dog training collar is nothing more than a leash that is not there (invisible). The electric dog collar should be used in the same way as you would use a leash. The dog should be introduced to the electric dog collar. To think that just by putting the electric dog collar on the dog will train animal, this is incorrect. The act of putting the dog collar on the dog has meaning for the dog, rotating the prong all have meaning. You must also learn the art of pushing the buttons to get the best results.

Some people say that using the electric dog collar is like eating chocolate. There is nothing wrong with eating small amounts, but then there are some who think this is wrong. Never the less, used in small amounts, both are harmless and the dog likes both of them. The harm occurs when there is too much chocolate eaten, but no one has a hard and fast rule to what is OK for the dog and what is not. The electric dog collar gives out a small electric shock and should not be what you would get if you stuck your finger in an electric outlet.A cheap dog shock collar should be subtle in the way that they work. On cheap dog shock collars, you should use a level of shock that is minimal to achieve the obedience that you need. The shock should not frighten or hurt the animal. It can be quite easy to be abusive using electronic dog training collar. For this reason the average dog owner should not use the electric dog training collar. You need some experience when using electric dog training collar. The biggest thing is the dog should not be the one treated inhumanely or with cruelty. This is easy to do if you are careless in using the electric dog collar. You have to understand how the dog is feeling, and how the dog is reacting to the level of shock that is being emitted. What you have to do is determine the purpose of using the electric dog collar or consider the alternatives to make sure the dog is treated properly as well as trained with the best of care. For more information on this topic as well as other pet topics then visit: Remote Dog Training Collar

Sometimes dog owners just want their dogs to stop barking. Carla, mother of two, has a big Husky named Bronco. The problem is when Bronco barks like he wants to tear the house down. Something had to be done. Carla asked her friends who had similarly big dogs. They recommended shock collars.

A natural habit of dogs, barking, is at odds with many living conditions we have to put up with. Among them, no-bark ordinances enforced in many communities. You will be fined should you violate these ordinances. Throw in the stress and discomfort at having a disobedient dog. That situation does not contribute to good neighborly relationships. Carla wanted fast results from whatever dog training collar she was to purchase. Her work and domestic duties – a full time job and two kids – understandably leaves her with a tight schedule, not enough for training her dog.

Shock, spray, and ultrasonic – these are the popular types of no bark collars. These types release a harmless fluid and a high-pitched tone, respectively. The sound is only irritating to dogs, since it’s beyond the human range of hearing. The no bark types trigger when your dog lets of a loud bark. High quality collars are able to tell whether the loud sound was the dog’s bark, or just a plane flying low, or a truck pulling in from the curve.

The shock collar appealed to Carla. The shock the dog receives is not painful, only startling, just enough to interrupt continuous barking. She gave the matter much thought, and concluded she need a collar that her dog couldn’t break; Bronco was big and playful. She was happy to find out, after a quick online search, that waterproof collars were available, with controls dog’s rowdy movements can’t tamper with.

The shock collar, to Carla’s relief, allows for the amping up of the intensity level of the electric shock; just in case Bronco adapts to the stimulus and barks despite it. Carla enjoys her time with her kids now, more so since Bronco became so behaved, all thanks to shock collars. Bronco is now as tame as a kitten.

Do you have a big dog with a similarly big bark? You can change that with shock collars.

It is always good to know a bit about how something works when you have it installed in your home. Especially if it is something like an alarm, a heating and / or cooling system, or an electric fence, for example. Usually people get to know their gadgets, just in case a quick fix is required. A window air conditioning unit, for example, may be something that breaks frequently but that you can fix easily because you understand how it works.

An electric fence, however, is different. How are you to know if it is not working properly? There are ways to check, of course, but to fix an electric fence is more difficult than repairing many other kinds of electronic home merchandise. The secret to a long lasting invisible dog fence is in the installation of it. Reduce the risk of damage, wear and tear, and so on. This is, of course, to ensure a high quality result with the right merchandise and, of course, the right manner of installation.

A high quality electric fence should be composed of solid wire, the less flimsy the better. It may be a bit more of a challenge for you to install, but solid wiring has the benefits of being more durable and less expensive. Be sure that all connections are good, solid and secure, without clean, tight connections there are, of course, additional risks to your fence and how effectively it will operate especially considering weather and regular wear and tear.

Use grounding rods that are about six to eight feet long – these should be composed of either copper or they should be galvanized. It is essential that you use a good ground return wire, and / or strong ground clamps – especially if your ground soil is particularly dry or stony. Also, be sure to use high quality insulation. Porcelain insulation systems, reinforced plastics, as well as glass, are all among the very best insulation materials you can use for your electrical fence.

You need to be sure not to run your electric dog fence wiring parallel to any telephone or power lines. Therefore, you will have to be aware of where these phone and / or other power lines lie – especially if they are underground wires. Do not splice your wiring (or, fencing) incorrectly. You should always use a secure figure-eight knot, a western union knot or the most recommended method, a secure joint clamp for splicing solid wire fencing – a sloppy knot can render your fence defective. Never let wet vegetation com into contact with the wiring underground, if you do so your fence will certainly be less effective.

All of these tips will be important to remember, because each element of your fence, the strength of the materials used and the manner in which it is installed will all be essential variables to consider. Therefore, if you are sure to use the right tools, wires, metals, and insulators for your fence your fence will likely perform better than if you “cut corners” around these suggestions.

Probably the easiest and fastest way to train your dog not to bark is with a dog barking collar. The idea behind these collars is simple. When your dog barks, give him something unpleasant. He’ll start to associate the barking with the unpleasant thing and he’ll quit barking. Generally, these collars work within the first couple barks. It doesn’t take your dog long to figure out that if she just stops barking the irritation goes away.

There are a variety of collars on the market. All are great products. You just need to choose which one is right for you and your dog. Here’s a list of the most effective types on the market.

Spray Collars…

Dog’s don’t like the smell of citronella. So, with this type of collar you fill the collar with a mixture of citronella and water and put it on your dog. When she barks, the collar sends a fine mist of citronella directly in front of her nose. It can be rather comical watching your dog shaking her head and trying to get rid of that awful smell. Of course, the comedy routine lasts only a few moments as she figures out that it’s her bark that’s causing the horrible smell and just stops barking.

Ultra Sonic Collars…

This type of barking dog collar saves you the hassle of filling the water and citronella vial of the spray collar. It does basically the same thing as the spray collar, only instead of affecting the sense of smell it causes a high pitched sound that dogs can hear but don’t like. The reaction most dogs have to the ultra sonic collar is one or two barks, followed by a muffled whimper, and then silence as they figure out their bark is causing the evil noise. The sound doesn’t hurt your dog’s hearing in the least. It has the effect that fingernails on a chalkboard has with humans. The sound doesn’t hurt their ears, but it cuts right to their core and sends shivers down their spine.

Bark Control Collars…

This is the last type of dog barking collars. As with the other collars bark control collars cause irritation every time your dog barks. The vibrations in her throat set the collar to work and it sends out a mild current that surprises her. After a couple of these surprises, she doesn’t want to bark anymore.

Most bark control collars have settings on them, so make sure you start at a low setting and only go as high as you need to go, to change her barking habit. Once the barking behavior has changed you’ll be able to replace the bark control collar with your dog’s normal collar. Once the habit of not barking has been established she’ll probably be fine. If she does relapse, you may need to do another training session with her to remind her of the unacceptable barking behavior. To do that just replace her bark control collar for a bit and she’ll stop barking again.

All of the above dog bark collars will work great if you’re very busy and don’t have the time to teach your dog not to bark. Not only are these collars safe and humane, they will work for you whether you’re at home or not.

When dog owner Richard Livitski isn’t chasing around his own dogs, he’s helping others achieve a little peace and quiet from barking by offering tips and advice from his Stop Dog Barking Today website.

Collar is one of the most indispensable tools for your Labrador training. A collar is a piece of material, could be made of nylon, metal, cotton or leather, and placed around the neck of a dog. It is often used for control, identification, fashion and other purposes. Imagine taking your dog for a walk without a collar and a leash. Your curious little one may end up running everywhere without thinking of his safety. What if a speeding car is coming towards him? Poor little dog…

Identification is another purpose of your dog’s collar. Information such as dog’s name, owner’s name and address are placed on dog collars so that in case of loss, there is a greater chance of seeing your dog again. No more poor owners worriedly looking for there lost dogs in every corner of the street.

There are different types of collars. There are basic collars as well as training collars. The different training collars are as follows:

Slip collars- Slip collars are also termed choke chains, slip chains or choke collars. They are often made of braided nylon, cotton or leather and form a loop around the top of the dog’s neck, just behind the ears. The leash is attached to the ring that goes over the back of the dog’s neck. The ring could either be dead or live ring. When the leash is attached to the dead ring, the collar does not constrict on the dog’s neck. However, attach it to the live ring and the chain will slip tighter when pulled and slips looser when the tension is released. It is important that you know the proper use of this collar because improper may lead to injury and even death of your beloved companion.

Prong collar- Prong collars are also termed pinch collars. This is used to control or correct the dog by yanking on its neck if he does not comply. Prong collars are series of chain links with blunted open ends turned towards the dog’s neck. When the collar is tightened, it pinches the loose skin around the dog’s neck. Prong collars can also be turned inside out with the prongs facing away from the dog’s skin. Some trainers place rubber tips on the end of the prongs to protect your dog’s skin from scratching or puncturing.

Martingale collars- Martingale collar has two loops; the smaller one is the control loop which tightens gently when pulled to prevent dogs from slipping out of the collar. Martingale collar has limited constriction on the dog’s neck and applies even pressure.

Electronic collars- Electronic collars are sometimes called remote and shock collars. To correct the dog, electronic collars deliver an electrical stimulus to the dog. The level of stimulus varies depending on the dog. If the dog continues to disobey, the intensity is increased.

Whatever the type of collar you are going to use on your Labrador training, it is always important to consider the proper use and fit of the collar. The collar should not be too loose or too tight for your dog. And do not forget to ask an expert on the proper use of these collars.

Now that we are living closer together in apartments, condos or houses built close to each other, there is a growing need for owners to control their barking dogs. Consistent or excessive barking can be annoying to both the owner and their neighbor. The ideal way to control the barking is by training the dog when it’s appropriate to bark and then to stop on your command. However, with owners working long hours or who just have hectic schedules just don’t have the time to train the dog. Training not only takes time but it also takes consistency and patience. Training is not an immediate solution and you will not get overnight results. Please note: If your dog is a fear barker i.e. barking and running with its tail between its legs and ears flat back or your dog is aggressive please consult your veterinarian or a professional before trying any type of bark control!

This article describes immediate solutions to control a dog’s barking habits. There are many products on the market today to stop a barking dog. The three main types are bark collars, stand alone systems and devices where you are in total control of when the dog gets a correction. All these devices are either ultrasonic, spray or electronic.

Based on my research of reviews of all these products the ultrasonic collar doesn’t seem to work very well for most dogs but the ultrasonic systems can be effective. The ultrasonic systems are stand alone devices and are made for either indoor or outdoor use. You simply place the device in your home or yard and when the dogs barks it emits an ultrasonic sound humans can’t hear and it distracts the dog from barking. A lot of people use the outdoor systems to control the barking of their neighbor’s dog. There are also handheld ultrasonic devices where you simply press the button when you want to deliver a correction. This can also be useful if you are bothered by barking dogs when you go for a walk, jog or cycle.

The most effective collars are either the citronella spray collars or the electronic bark collars. The citronella collars emit a spray when the dog barks. It distracts them plus they don’t particularly like the smell of citronella. People have had good success with this type of bark collar but it really depends on the dog’s personality. If your dog is the happy go lucky type and really wants to please you then you have a good chance this collar will work for you. If your dog is hard headed and stubborn, barks at anything and everything, then you’ll probably have more success with an electronic bark collar. Great strides have been made with these collars over the past few years where you have much more control over the amount of correction the dog receives when he barks.
